Definition

The complete cost of purchasing and owning an asset over its entire lifespan, including the purchase price, maintenance, insurance, taxes, depreciation, and operating costs. For a home, TCO includes the mortgage payments, property taxes, insurance, maintenance, and utilities. For a car, it includes the loan, fuel, insurance, maintenance, and depreciation.
