Underinsured Motorist

Definition

Auto insurance coverage that pays for your injuries and damages when the at-fault driver does not carry enough insurance to cover your losses. This coverage kicks in when the at-fault driver's liability limits are lower than your actual damages. Many states require or strongly recommend this coverage, and it is often bundled with uninsured motorist coverage.
